Service Description
Do you know that the abandoned and run down Kay Siang Bunkers were built in the 1940s during World War 2? Getting bored with the usual parks and wanting to look for hikes that come with a sense of adventure? Join us to go on another adventure to explore the remnants left from the past at Queenstown!! What you would expect to explore: First, we will be going into the forested area, nestling the said Kay Siang Bunkers. Presumably built in the 1940s for storing goods and ammunition by the British Military, they are located alongside the now-demolished Buller Camp that housed Australian and Indian POWs during the Japanese Occupation. Secondly, Dempsey Hill where it was revamped from a former British army barracks to the now high end stores and restaurants in Singapore. Then, we will proceed to the 162 year old Botanic Gardens, the world's largest orchid display featuring over 60,000 plants and orchids and the only tropical garden, to be given the honour as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lastly, we will be walking towards Sixth Avenue, where it used to be the site of the British Army’s Base Ordnance Depot, which supplied motor spare parts and vehicles to the army’s workshop post war. Summary Routes: Queenstown MRT → Kay Siang Bunkers → Dempsey Hill → Botanic Gardens → Sixth Avenue MRT (~9.5 km) After the venturesome hike, you can have lunch at Sixth Avenue!
